I began helping CHLA on my 9th birthday by collecting new books to donate to the patients instead of gifts for myself. I turned 12 in 2017 and on my birthday I got to walk 105 new books that I collected up to the Literally Healing room at CHLA. I got to see where the books are collected, sorted, then put on carts to be distributed to the children. I then gave my parents a tour of the hospital! This was an amazing morning for me.
Every year I fundraise for CHLA by holding a bake sale or teaming up with Chipotle or hosting a family farm day and last year I started selling slime at our local Farmer's Market. In 2019, my friend and I sold bottle openers & bubbles at the Farmer's Market...we collected over $1,000 together. I still love to collect brand new books instead of gifts for my birthday to take to the hospital.
I have been given a heart to feel compassion and to help others in this lifetime. I am always grateful for added support from our community, my family, friends and others that I have yet to meet.
Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of many young patients and their families. Any amount, great or small, will be greatly appreciated and will help us create hope and build healthier futures for the families of Southern California and beyond. Thank you!
