A few of you know, my niece, Elisha and her husband Billy, had a baby boy, Rex, on March 20th. He was born with a severe heart defect known as Shone Syndrome. He was only 24 hours old when he had his first surgery at Children’s Hospital to insert a balloon so the blood could flow through the heart. When he was one week old, Dr. Sterns at Children’s Hospital performed open heart surgery to correct the serious problems with his heart. Although the surgery was successful, little Rex was not strong enough. He fought for his life for a week and died in his mother’s arm’s on Tuesday, April 4th. The family has been devastated. Children’s Hospital is such a fantastic hospital and they are having a walk-a-thon on June 17th and we have joined with the rest of Billy and Elisha’s family to walk and raise money for the hospital.
Rex was such a precious gift and here for such a short time, but made an enormous impact on all our lives. I’ve attached a couple of photos of Rex with his mom and dad…..
I hope you will be able to support this very dear cause and make a donation, of any amount, to Children’s Hospital. Our team name is “Rex and the Heart Beaters” -- Or come out and joint us in the walk!
