Proud Grandma's Page
Welcome to my Walk L.A. page!
I am excited to be part of the 2nd annual Walk L.A. and to be part of my Grand Daughter's team "Liana of Troy and the Heartbreakers”.
I have pledged to raise at least $250, but hope we can give much more back to this wonderful organization.
More children receive care from CHLA than any other hospital in the region—and often CHLA comes to the rescue for children when other hospitals run out of medical options for their care. Walk LA is the walk that supports the only hospital solely dedicated to the health of children in Los Angeles.
Please read our story below and here are a few ways you can get involved:
•Donate to my Page to help me reach my fundraising goal.
• Join our team and create your own fundraising page for Walk L.A.!
Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of many young patients including Liana's.
Here is our story!Family and Friends! Our lives have been forever changed with the addition of my Grand Daughter Liana. However, in addition to the normal baby issues Liana is dealing with some serious medical issues as well.
Liana was born with a large bladder diverticulum which will require an extensive bladder reconstruction surgery in the near future. We were lucky enough to have some great doctors who worked hard to identify and monitor her condition before and after she was born. We were able to get her to the best doctor's we could find so we had a plan in place for her care after she was born. Her bladder holds a tremendous amount of fluid which at times backs up into her kidneys risking their long term health. Since birth we have had to make sure they have continued to decompress since she was unable to release the pressure until she was born. In order to make sure she is ok, Aaron and Nicole have had to perform medical procedures on her several times every single day since she's been born and she has had to undergo multiple exams and testing to make sure she is ok. This will have to continue until she is able to have her surgery.
She is currently being treated at Children's Hospital LA Urology Department by some of the best specialists in the nation. They Without the care she received before and now after her birth it was not clear what her outcome would be or if she would have a positive outlook going forward. But she now at least has a chance for her to have a successful surgery soon and we are hoping she gets to have a normal childhood.
She has also recently being diagnosed with Developmental Hip Dysplasia and is also being treated at Children's Hospital LA for that as well. She will need to wear a Pavlik Harness for hopefully only a few months but due to her other conditions it makes it very difficult. She will also need to undergo multiple follow up procedures and visits for this condition likely until she is a young adult.
*****Update******
As some of you know since last year Liana has now had to undergo a major open heart surgery just a few months ago and is now recovering. She will need to go in again and have a heart catheter procedure before she can be cleared for her bladder surgery. Once she is cleared she will hopefully have her much needed bladder surgery.
With that being said, we have decided to share her story and participate in Walk LA benefiting Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. It will take place Saturday June 2nd, 2018. We're looking for any support that any of you can provide as it will go to a fantastic cause and organization who devotes 100% of their time to cure and treat children.
Any donations are greatly appreciated and none of the money goes to us and instead goes directly to Children's Hospital LA and specifically the Cardiology department who has treated Liana and will be performing her surgery. If you would like to join our team and walk with us you can also do that as we would love to have you!
We could not imagine our life without Liana and because of the care she has received and will be receiving she now at least has a chance to continue to bless our family. As many of you know from following us on Facebook Liana is a beautiful and happy little girl and these issues haven't stopped her from being the happy and loving little girl we know. From our family to yours, we thank you for all the love you have shown us and Liana.

The walk will take place on Saturday June 2, 2018 at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
