Welcome to my Walk and Play L.A. page! I am excited to be part of the second annual Walk and Play L.A. in support of the mission of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
In September of 2016, one of my closest friends, Danny Mascari's son was born with a rare condition. Not to make this about me, but when he told me I was devastated because my children are nearly the same age as his and I couldn't imagine my children having a life threatening condition diagnosis at only a week old.
Danny's son, Alessio, spent the first 7 months of his life hooked up to a ventilator and oxygen at Children's Hospital, LA . Danny and his wife set up shop and spent day and night there learning about this rare condition and doing everything they could to help their son get better and have the ability to come home. I would get updates from them periodically and they told me of his progress, how well the doctors and nurses treated their son, helped him get stronger, and how they never gave up. His son, Alessio, has been home for a year now, is off oxygen during the day and continues to thrive.
He's a super cute kid, who continues to thrive and progress. Every time my friend calls me to update me, I am truly thrilled to hear how all of the positive news about trips out of the house and getting off the vent and oxygen ("being wireless")for extended periods of time.
I don't ever ask for anything, but if you could find it in your heart to donate to this hospital, it would mean a great deal to me and to all of the children who have been affected by this wonderful hospital. My personal goal is $250 and I have 39 days to meet that. I hope you can find $5, $10 or maybe more to donate.
Here are a few ways you can get involved:
- Donate to my Page to help me reach my fundraising goal.
- Join the Walk and create your own fundraising page for Walk and Play L.A.!
I hope you’ll join me at the walk and help support my fundraising efforts with a donation to Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Your charitable gift will make a difference in the lives of many young patients and their families. Any amount, big or small, will be greatly appreciated and will help us create hope and build healthier futures for the families of Southern California and beyond.
