Walking for Children's Hospital and to Support TEAM ALESSIO!
Welcome to my Walk L.A. page! I am excited to be part of the inaugural Walk L.A. in support of the mission of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. They have done so much for my nephew, Alessio, and it's my way of giving back. I have committed to raise at least $500 for Children's Hospital Los Angeles in partnership with the event.
About 7 days after Alessio was born, he became very ill and was rushed to the local hospital where doctors were baffled as to what could be wrong. He was brought to Children's Hospital LA and soon after he was diagnosed with Pediatric PAP (a very rare form of lung disease). Not much is known about this rare disease, but the doctor's at Children's worked hard and collaborated with doctors all over the world to find a treatment that would work on Alessio. After seven months in the hospital, finally finding a treatment to manage the disease, he was able to go home. Still on oxygen and requiring constant care while continuing his treatments at Children's. Our hope is that someday he goes into remission or a cure is found.
This is our story and there are many more children out there with theirs. More children receive care from CHLA than any other hospital in the region—and often CHLA comes to the rescue for children when other hospitals run out of medical options for their care. Walk LA is the walk that supports the only hospital solely dedicated to the health of children in Los Angeles.
