TeaM Page (Transfusion Medicine)
Welcome to our Walk and Play L.A. page! We're pumped up to be part of the second annual Walk and Play L.A. in support of the mission of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
When you're pumped up with us, you're helping some of the youngest patients and blood recipients in the country. More than 20,000 units of blood products are transfused to CHLA patients every year. That means we need over 1,500 units of blood each month to support our patient needs. We also have the largest Sickle Cell Disease treatment center in California requiring a large number of antigen-specific blood products. We appreciate all of our amazing donors that pump up their arms and also take the time to donate blood for our CHLA patients! Join our team to help pump up our funraising amout for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles!
Just for reference, here are our other lines of service our department provides:
- Transfusion Services (Blood Bank)
- Blood Donor Services
- Mobile Collection Unit (Blood Drives/Bloodmobile)
- Donor Testing
- Blood Component Manufacturing
- Patient Apheresis Services (Red Cell Exchange, Plasma Exchange, Photopheresis, Stem Cell Collection)
- Quality Assurance
- Patient Blood Management
More children receive care from CHLA than any other hospital in the region—and often CHLA comes to the rescue for children when other hospitals run out of medical options for their care.
Walk and Play L.A. supports the only hospital solely dedicated to the health of children in Los Angeles.
